Home care services

What are home care services?

Home care is a bespoke support option that lets you receive first-rate care in your own home.

Also known as ‘care at home’, home care gives you or your loved ones the opportunity to receive expert assistance in your own home. Home care can be received as little or as often as required – every individual will have their own set of care needs, which makes it important to have full flexibility over the support that you receive.

Whether you’d just like weekly care visits or require specialist care for a complex medical condition, home care is for people with all types and levels of need. Here are some of the many reasons why home care is such a popular support option:

One-to-one care

Home care gives you the opportunity to receive personal one-to-one support from your own carer, meaning you’ll always have their full attention

Stay in a familiar environment

Many people relish the chance to remain in the comfortable, secure surroundings of home whilst receiving the additional support they need

Personalised support

Home care allows you to enjoy a personalised care plan that ensures you’re always getting the ideal amount of assistance for your needs and wishes

Maintain routines and hobbies

From board games to going to the theatre, receiving care at home means you’ll be able to continue the routines and hobbies you enjoy

Spend more time with loved ones

With a personalised support plan, you can spend as much time as you wish with family and friends – either in your own home or theirs

A holistic approach

Our holistic approach to home care means that every aspect of you and your family’s support needs will be catered for

When to consider help at home from a paid carer

If you’re no longer able to live life on your own terms, you may wish to consider home care.

The ultimate goal of home care is to promote independent living that suits you. There is no set time, health condition or diagnosis to consider help at home from a professional home care service provider. It is simply when you feel that you need extra support to carry out everyday tasks and meal preparation or live life the way you want to.

You may wish to consider home care if you’re:

Struggling with daily routines

A carer can provide assistance with your daily routines – whether that’s doing time-consuming housework or providing discreet personal care

Unwilling to move to a care home

Care at home is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to moving to residential care because it allows you to remain in the home that you love

Requiring mobility support

A carer can help you get into and out of bed and move around your home with confidence, as well as assisting with physiotherapy exercises

Living with a complex condition

Our carers are fully trained to help people living with complex medical conditions who would benefit from extra support at home

Needing help leaving your home

With home care, your carrer can help you get out and about – whether that’s popping to the shops, seeing loved ones or going away for the weekend

How can a carer help me at home?

Your personal carer is here to prioritise your well-being and support your independence.

The duties of a home carer often involve tasks such as general housekeeping (washing dishes, cleaning the home, doing laundry, making beds and so on). They are also able to help prepare meals as well as provide personal care (bathing, dressing) with dignity. Other ways a home carer can help include:

Personal care

All of our carers are trained to provide discreet, sensitive support with areas of personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting and continence care

Housework

If you’re struggling to find the time or energy to stay on top of the housework, your carer can help out around the house with just about anything

Mobility support

Your carer will be able to help you get into and out of bed and move around your home, as well as assisting with physiotherapy exercises

Assistance with medication

From collecting it on your behalf to helping you organise and administer it, our carers are expertly trained to help you with your medication management

Looking after pets

With home care, you won’t need to worry about being parted from your furry friend(s) – your carer can exercise them, and generally spoil them rotten

Getting out of the house

A carer can accompany you out and about – whether that’s to the shops, to visit loved ones, or helping you attend social clubs and hobbies

Home care FAQs

Home care offers the extra support, reassurance, and companionship that may be needed for you to continue living at home as independently as is possible. Home care will keep you in your home, community, and around the family you love.

There are many elements of home care that can directly help you or you and your spouse or partner. Home care is not only designed to support you directly, but also provides extra reassurance for family members that aren’t always available to support you, knowing that you are receiving the help you need.

The duties of a home carer often involve tasks such as general housekeeping (washing dishes, cleaning the home, doing laundry, making beds and so on). They are also able to help prepare meals as well as provide personal care (bathing, dressing) with dignity.

Our dedicated customer care specialists are just a phone call away. They will get to understand your needs and arrange a consultation between you and a local care manager. Your local care manager will then perform a home care assessment, and understand your requirements face to face to ensure you get the right package of care tailored to you.

The price of your homecare very much depends on the frequency and intensity of your support, but visits often start from £22.29 per hour. With this, a fully trained carer will support you in your own home with domestic duties, medication and more. Prices are also available for 30-minute or 45-minute visits, and there are set prices for overnight calls.

When you arrange homecare, we get to know you, your hobbies and interests on a personal level. We will match you with compatible carers that are likely to become close friends over time.

Home care can be a cost effective alternative to residential care, especially for a couple or for people who have care at home on a visiting basis.
